Kamloops Electric Motor Sales & Services Ltd. is seeking a multi-talented Office Administrator/Bookkeeper for a temporary 14 month role. The Company is in Kamloops British Columbia and is focused on the service, repair, and sale of motors for larger industrial applications throughout the B.C. interior. In addition, the business supplies and services commercial Agricultural and HVAC clients with electric motors and parts. Kamloops Electric is part of a network of electro-mechanical and electric motor provider shops strategically located in Western Canada.  

The successful candidate has experience working in a small business performing a multitude of tasks including maintaining the Company’s financial transactions and supporting its operational team. What you will be doing:

  • Perform all day-to-day accounting tasks for the company, including but not limited to:
    • Preparing and managing payroll through a third-party service provider
    • Managing customer invoicing, credit approval and collection of accounts receivable
    • Managing purchasing and accounts payable functions
    • Completing month end and year end close process and preparing supporting working papers and account reconciliations
    • Managing inventory including ordering and maintaining appropriate parts and stock and completing periodic inventory counts
    • Preparation and filing of GST and PST returns
  • Responsible for all administration activities such as vehicle insurance, copiers, and phones.
  • Support customer service activities including but not limited to:
    • Answering phones and directing customer inquiries to appropriate personnel
    • Responding to incoming counter sales activity when needed
    • Providing administrative support for customer quotes and follow up
  • Assist with shipping and receiving of parts and stock
  • Performing other duties as necessary

What we need from you:

  • Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping experience
  • Good organizational skills
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and accounting software
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • High-energy individual: one who is comfortable playing in a fast-paced, business environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, staying organized and consistently meeting deadlines
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills
  • CPA designation or a college or university degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration would be an asset, but not required
